Hartley Nature Center is committed to continuing environmental education opportunities for all children of the Twin Ports area. It may surprise you to learn that without the school and busing scholarship initiatives provided by Hartley, there are youth in our own community who would not be afforded the chance to experience the natural world. It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. Hartley has provided over $5000 in school scholarship funds for those schools with over 55% of their students qualifying for free and reduced lunch programs, and $8000 in busing funds this year alone to all schools within a 30-mile radius.
In addition, HNC provides programming for area home schooling families, scout troops, community youth centers, YMCA, YWCA and after-school programs. Hartley has also provided service project opportunities for several area Eagle Scout candidates and numerous groups from Woodland Hills. This is all in addition to its programming for the general public and to the physical improvements made to the natural communities and trails of Hartley Park so enjoyed by us all, members and non-members.
We understand that as a local business you are solicited for donations on a daily basis from many worthwhile organizations. We believe that a membership at Hartley will provide you with an immeasurable return on your investment via the positive impact your membership dollars will make on the thousands of youth and adult community members which will benefit from your contribution. Your annual membership contribution of $250.00 will provide the necessary educational opportunities, scholarships, transportation, staffing, equipment and park improvements that are integral to providing area children and adults with quality environmental programming and opportunities to explore the natural world in a safe, quality, natural environment.
