Birds

172 bird species have been recorded from the 1910 Allandale Farm days, through Hartley Field days, to the present Hartley Park time. We continue to record all the bird observations from the park and send park bird information into Cornell Ornithology Laboratories and the Audubon Society.

We keep the information from sighting reports, monitoring bluebird/tree swallow houses around the building, and from NRRI graduate students in bird studies who do yearly breeding bird surveys in the park. We also gather winter bird information from the yearly local Audubon Christmas Bird Count. Thank you to all the citizen science volunteers who helped us complete the 2009 count.
