Scratches and smoothing of bedrock remain from the movement of the last glaciers thousands of years ago. The glaciers use the stones they pluck off and pick up as the tools to do their sculpturing. The melting back of the glaciers left these granophyre rock surfaces for us to discover on the red rock outcrops in the north of the park.
